DC Motor Project
One of the electronics classes electrical engineers at Wentworth take is electric machines and transformers. One of the projects worked on throughout this class was to build our own DC motor. The Professor started by teaching us the concepts and engineering behind a DC motor and then started us all off with a toy motor kit to get us started.
We were than responsible for working in our group on making our own DC motor to run of 6VDC. The goal was to build the motor for speed and we measured the motor speeds each week with a stroboscope. We went through three different motor designs before landing on our final design that reached a speed of 4700RPM.
